Ladies' Tennis Funraiser
May 9, 2018
Thanks to all who helped make our tennis fundraiser at Deer Lake Athletic Club on May 9 a huge success. We raised over $1,000! Thank you to Shellie Sanders and Michelle Watson for helping to organize the event and also to Sarina Nallamothu for working registration.
In February 2017, the women of Choices Detroit gave their clothing and care packages to the Empowerment Plan in Downtown Detroit.
150 lunches were packed by the Everest Collegiate Boys Varsity Basketball Team for the homeless in Detroit, then distributed by Sister Judie Ann.
OKTOBERFEST 2016
Choices Detroit hosted a fundraiser on Wednesday, October 5th to benefit and highlight the works of The Empowerment Plan, a Detroit-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless community. Over 100 people from the Clarkston area joined the two organizations to celebrate and enthusiastically unite to serve those in need. Choices Detroit has been collaborating with other nonprofits that support the needs of others over the past four years. Over those years the women involved have provided over 10,000 lunches, 1,800 blankets, 900 coats and countless supplies to the homeless and those in need. This year the organization has partnered with The Empowerment Plan (www.empowermentplan.org), which is dedicated to creating jobs that lift women out of poverty. The women employed, previously in shelters, are given training and full-time employment as seamstresses so that they can earn a stable income, find secure housing and regain independence. Four women from TEP attended the event and offered testimony, appreciation for Clarkston support, and witness to the benefit of uniting for a common cause. Each of the initiatives of Choices Detroit cultivates mentorship and bridges the gap between those who want to serve and those in need.
